Laughless Saint Mods: Current Status

The current state, stated plainly

There is no official mod support for this game as of 24 August 2026.

That is a negative claim, so here is what it rests on:

  • The Steam store category list for app 3849000 covers single-player, multiplayer, co-op, online co-op, shared and split screen, partial controller support, Remote Play Together and Family Sharing. Steam Workshop is not among them.
  • NerveLabs has published nine announcements between the 17 August release and Update 7 on 21 August. None mentions mods, modding, the Workshop, or a modding API.
  • No official modding documentation or tooling has been announced.

Why people are searching for this anyway

The search interest makes sense given what the game is. It presents itself as a Morrowind-inspired open-world RPG, and Morrowind has one of the longest-running modding scenes in the genre. Players arriving from that tradition reasonably assume mods are part of the package.

The game also has the two properties that usually attract modders: systems deep enough to be worth extending — spell crafting and alchemy — and an early access build with rough edges people want to smooth over.

Why early access changes the calculation

Even setting aside the absence of official support, this is a poor moment to be layering third-party files onto the game. The update cadence in the first week was extraordinary:

DateBuild
17 AugRelease, Hotfix 1, Launch Day Hotfix 2
18 AugHotfix 3 (over 40 bug fixes), Hotfix 4
19 AugHotfix 5
20 AugUpdate 6
21 AugUpdate 7

Seven builds in five days, including a full spell crafting rebalance, a new playable race, and fixes to multiplayer save integrity. Anything built against the launch-day executable was aimed at a version that no longer existed by the weekend.

What to do instead, for now

Most of what people want mods for at this stage has an in-game or official answer:

  • Performance problems — Update 7 added the ability to turn off shadows for significantly improved performance, and there is a saturation slider. Also check that your Nvidia driver is version 600 or above; the developers added a warning popup because older drivers are the source of most crashes.
  • Appearance changes — the changeappearance command and the race-change mirror both exist (console commands, races).
  • Skipping the intro — Update 7 added a “Skip intro” setting.
  • Something genuinely broken — the developers have said they are on standby and monitoring reports, and the patch history backs that up. A bug report is likely to be faster than a fix you install yourself.

What we will watch for

If NerveLabs announces Workshop support, a mod API, or a tools release, this page will be updated and dated. Until then we will not link to or recommend third-party downloads for a game whose own developer has not opened that door.
